Lot 3271

1884 $3 Gold. PCGS graded Proof 64 Deep Cameo. A wonderful example. Mostly untoned with a hint of gold color. The golden glow on both sides is full with a somewhat satin texture to the devices which qualifies it for "deep cameo" status. Extremely beautiful! This is a decidedly well-struck Proof with all of the finest details clear, unlike some other, carelessly made specimens. It has no bothersome copper spots or other impairment, either, which increases its prestige, nor did the dies leave behind a less than rigid impression of softness in the centers. The centers are fully defined. The sleuth-hound collector will be drawn to it at once for these reasons! Only 106 Proofs struck. Pop 1; 4 finer; 1 in 65; 1 in 66; 2 in 67. (PCGS # 98048) .
Estimated Value $12,000 - 13,000.
Ex: The Brentwood Park Estate.
