1833 Capped Bust Dime. NGC graded MS-64. JR-9. R2. Well struck and mostly toned. Ten die marriages are known for 1833 from four obverse and six reverse dies. The total coinage for the year was 485,000 coins. The new Philadelphia Mint (known as the Second Philadelphia Mint) at Chestnut and Juniper streets was finally operational, with coinage beginning in January 1833. Pop 48; 25 finer. (PCGS # 4522) .
The die crack from the left edge of the scroll through E in UNITED, which later develops into a sizeable cud, is fairly heavy and two other thinner cracks connect the scroll and lettering above.
