Lot 2474

1862 Silver Three Cents. NGC graded MS-65. Attractive deep purple-gray and blue toning on both sides. The surfaces are frosty and each side has a nice veneer of patina that deepes as it comes into contact with the rims. From the gem quality luster, we next take stock of the details of the design. Given the proper amount of strike pressure, the coin was nicely brought up by the dies with only a modicum of softness on the shield. Popular Civil War date to represent the Type 3 design (double outline to the star) (PCGS # 3680) .
Estimated Value $550 - 600.

Realized $604
