Lot 2066
1837 Half Cent Token Low-49 Rulau HT-73. AU-58. Frosty medium brown and steel with golden tan faded down from mint color in some of the protected areas. A choice example, very close to mint state. Actually a Hard Times Token but this is the only half cent denomination in that series and it is the same size as a half cent of that day. Since no Federal half cents were struck with that date, collectors have commonly collected these are part of the regular half cent series. In fact, many of the early coin collecting boards had a spot for this 1837 token and the "Redbook" lists it in the half cent section. A very nice example of this popular issue.
