Peru. 8 Escudos, 1772- (Lima) JM. Fr-28; KM-73. Charles III. Modified older uniformed bust to right. Reverse: Small crowned Hapsburg arms within chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Mintmark at lower left and assayers' initials at lower right, separated by fleece. No value is shown. Light reverse scratches. Trace of luster and attractively toned. Choice Very Fine.

Due to the prominence of the sharp features of the King's face on the profile portrait, collector's have referred to this type as the "Rat Nose". This year 1772 being the final year this type was used before the new official older bust was adopted in the same year.
