Herod the Great, 40-4 B.C.E. AE 8 Prutot (23mm) minted at Samaria, dated year 3 (40 B.C.E.). . Hen-486. . Mesh1 37. Helmet flanked by two palm branches. Reverse: Tripod with lebes standing on podium. Nearly Extremely Fine.

It's probable that Herod renewed the denomination series which Mattathias Antigonus established. This is the largest coin type which Herod minted.
