1872-CC $20 Liberty. SEGS graded AU-58 Cleaned. Our grade is sharpness of AU-53 cleaned. A smooth light gold example of this rarity from the first years of the Carson City Mint. The surfaces are devoid of all but a few marks, and the eye appeal is well within what is expected for the grade in spite of minor cleaning. Only 26,900 double eagles of the date were struck, and very few remain. Therefore, an opportunity for double eagle collectors and Carson City Mint specialists alike! (PCGS # 8964) .
