Handel Sectioned Tree Metal Overlay Table Lamp. Approximately 21" high. Shade is 17" in diameter; it is signed in two places: on the ring and on the metal tag inside. All original glass, patina, and paint. With Handel signed Deco Bullet Base. The base has the original patina, heatcap, finial and acorn pulls. The sockets have been replaced and the wiring is new.

Philip Handel was best known for the art glass lamps that he produced in Meriden, Connecticut at the turn of the century. In Robert DeFalco's book, Metal Overlays by Handel, he states: "Handel conceived and produced lamps with the idea that the fixture itself was sculpture and its luminescence fine art. In the true Arts and Crafts spirit, Handel captured the essence of handcrrafted quality and realized the vision of the artist in every lamp."
