1941 Liberty Walking Half Dollar. NGC graded Proof 66. God, what a coin! Excuse our enthusiasm. But of the 15,412 coined as Proofs this year, this is one of the true remaining jewels. The surfaces are nearly flawless, as the PR66 grade suggests (and accurately so--or maybe a 67 is in order here). It's the color over top of wonderful mirrors, however, that sets this apart as one in a thousand. Bright amber-green iridescence flows perfectly over both sides, creating a feast for the eyes. This is the color of the clear sky over the French Riviera on a summer night just as the sun dips into the horizon. It's just a sumptuous coin.
