Lot 308

1799/8 Draped Bust Cent. . S-188, R4. VG-7. Mostly glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. There are traces of microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas, including a small area of shallow verdigris in the field left of the lower curls, but overall the surfaces are decent. Light contact marks consistent with the grade are scattered about both sides, including a nick on the right foot of the L in LIBERTY. The date is virtually complete, only the very bottom of the digits starting to flow into the rim below, thanks mostly to being struck very slightly off center to the bottom. The overdate is obvious. The legends are complete and clear. MDS, Breen die state II.
Estimated Value $2,500 - 5,000.
