1893-CC $20 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-61. Nice original toning on both sides. Last year of the "CC" mint $20 gold. The '93-CC is one of the more available dates among Carson City double eagles, yet it still holds a lot of fascination because of its truncated mintage of only 18,402 pieces, and its status as the final year of issue from this popular Western mint. Carson City struck gold and silver coins between 1870 and 1893, a brief enough span to produce many low mintage rarities. This is an attractive example that is typical for the issue. The surfaces are lovely golden orange and lustrous, and there is a light, but uniform, coppery-reddish cast to each side. No heavy bagmarks spoil the attractive frost, and for this collectors can be thankful since the few others that are known in Mint condition tend to be baggy. Pop 76; 129 in 62; 18 in 63; none finer. (PCGS # 9023) .
Estimated Value $5,000 - 6,000.
