1847-D $5 Liberty. PCGS graded AU-55. Plenty of luster still present. Lightly toned with mint luster around the devices. A choice high-quality About Uncirculated with sunset-gold surfaces and the reverse rim plays host to a full strike. The reverse, as if in competition with the obverse for the viewer's attention, and far from the "norm" for gold half eagles from this mint, is equally full as to its strike. A lovely coin, one that certainly meets the qualifications for the assigned grade. The sternest censor could find nothing to cavil at in this precious gold 1847-D $5 gold piece. Pop 10; 22 finer.
