1807 $2.50 Capped Bust. NGC graded MS-61. In NGC holder 1750164-002. Untoned. Warm gold and markedly lustrous, showing classic early mint frost. As usually found on this date, the strike shallow in the centers, with the hair above Liberty's ear incomplete, and similar softness on the upper half of the shield and portions of the banner. The mintage of 6,812 pieces, although high for its day, is low by mid-19th century standards. This date is one most often chosen for a Type set, and therefore is popular for collection purposes; it is still very scarce in an absolute sense Mint State grades.
