1882 Shield Nickel. NGC graded Proof 66. 3,100 proofs minted. Radiant and exhibiting pale toning color atop the moon-glow nickel-gray base. A very pleasing example of this later Proof. Sometimes on the Shield nickel issue, the devices that were left by the dies are short of the required precision due to weak die pressure or the hard nickel alloy, but we find the opposite to be the case here, everything is finely detailed, including the centers of the leaves and the star radials.
