1871 Shield Nickel. NGC graded Proof 64 Cameo. Mostly untoned. The mirror surfaces ripple with original flash and sparkle. What's more, the coin is virtually bright and silvery with only a thin veil of patina. Finally, as to the key devices, these show a very convincing impression as left by the recoil of the crisp, razor-sharp dies. The 1871 is one of the slightly scarcer issues, we might add, in Proof as well as the business strikes this year. 960+ Proofs struck. Pop 6; 22 finer; 11 in 65; 8 in 66; 3 in 67. (PCGS # 3825) .
