Unknown. English, 19th Century Oil On Canvas. We cannot ascertain the artist's signature. A canal scene, with the foreground boat being towed to the left by a horseman sitting cross saddle, and wearing a bowler. The reclining cows close by ignore the activity with the utmost indifference. The soft hues and rose-colored aura of dusk in the country are beautifully conveyed. The painting appears to have been cleaned sometime in the not too distant past, and the colors are clear and clean. In a high quality vintage frame, with a couple of slight mended losses. Visible size: 13" x 19". Frame: 19" x 25".
