1797 Draped Bust Cent. Gripped edge, reverse of 1796. . S-121b, R-3. VF-35. Choice glossy steel brown and chocolate with frosty tan faded down from mint color in protected areas, especially on the obverse. Virtually flawless, and has the eye appeal of a higher grade. A small arc of darker olive brown toning at the dentils over the E in LIBERTY is the best identifying mark. Late die state, Breen state V. All the cracks listed by Breen are strong. At the lower end of the condition census for this popular "Redbook" variety. A recent discovery from England.
