Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III, the Great, 336-323 BC. Gold Stater (8.53 g.), Amphipolis mint, 330-320 BC. Helmeted head of Athena right, serpent on helmet.Reverse: Nike standing left, holding wreath in right hand, stylis in left; kantharos to left. Price 168a. Evidence of mounting along rim; obverse and reverse surfaces appear quite natural, with some residual luster. Pleasant portrait style. Very Fine plus.
