Lot 3125

1890 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 67 Cameo. Blue and gold toning with the centers white. Only 650 proofs struck. The stupendous example offered here not only shatters the normally seen striking woes, but its sparkling surfaces border on perfection underneath the heavenly toning. In fact, we can state confidently that this piece must have been retained in original Mint-issue Proof coin tissue paper for the better part of a century to have acquired its resplendent "spotlight" toning. Struck with systematic exactness throughout, and typical for these well-made Proofs of 1890, there is no need to focus on the central part of the hair and eagle's breast where a somewhat rounded impression is often left by the dies. This coin is decidedly bold, crisp, and fully detailed in these key areas, as elsewhere. A stellar offering! Pop 4; 1 finer in 68. (PCGS # 87325) .
Estimated Value $8,500 - 9,500.
