Lot 2212

1875-CC $10 Liberty. NGC graded AU-50. A hint of light golden toning. Surpassed in high grade rarity by only the key 1870-CC and 1873-CC, the 1875-CC has an extant population of perhaps 65 coins from an original mintage of 7,715 pieces. With only 7 reported at this level, and so few higher, the present survivor is expectantly a coin with a splendid future stretching out ahead of it. The coin is only lightly abraded for a circulated CC-mint gold coin with no stand-out marks that would serve as provenance markers. Ample satin luster remains on both sides hugging tightly the stars, date, and legends, the strike is typically soft for the issue, but only minor bluntness of detail noted over the central obverse and the lower reverse devices. An important CC-mint Eagle with a warm, golden-orange sheen. NGC #1775253-001. Pop 7; 10 finer.
Estimated Value $17,000 - 19,000.

Realized $18,400
