Lot 1536

1874 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. Arrows. PCGS graded Proof 63 Cameo PQ. Light even lilac toning on both sides. 700 proofs minted. A simply eye-catching Proof 63 coin, the choice surfaces seem to glisten with full, mirror-smooth luster. This is a well-struck example of an important two-year Type with good details on all stars and key design elements, unlike some. It has no bothersome abrasions or heavy hairlines, as is often the case, nor did the vagaries of time leave behind anything but exemplary toning. Arrows were added to the date in 1873-74 to denote a slight change in the coin's weight. After 1875, the arrows were no longer required and so were left off the dies. Pop 3; 21 finer. (PCGS # 85575) .
Estimated Value $1,200 - 1,400.

Realized $1,380
