Lot 1535

1874 Liberty Seated Quarter Dollar. Arrows. NGC graded Proof 67. Spectacular rainbow toned gem with bulls-eye toning. 700 proofs minted. A silvery bright "spot-light" center on this specimen glowing with original mint bloom and vibrant colors. The real charm of it all is that the toning expresses itself in a most balanced platform: frosted light "cameo" devices against infinitely "deep" mirrors. Moving along, the coin also presents a decidedly sharp strike, with boldness to the stars, Liberty's hair and dress, both shields, and all of the intricate detail put into the design of the eagle by the genius of Christian Gobrecht in the 1830s when he designed the coin. Pop 6; 1 finer in 68 Star.
Estimated Value $11,000 - 12,000.
The Greenhill Collection.

Realized $14,950
