1880, $20 Silver Certificate. . Fr-311. . KL-581. "Captain Stephen Decatur." A handsome example of this popular Silver Certificate type. The Stephen Decatur portrait is particularly lifelike, and that, along with the rich brown seal and large brown "XX", bring to the note the appearance of a choicer quality piece. Although about 125 F-311 notes are traced, most are in the lower grades, and several of high-end specimens are impounded; in all likelihood, not many of that number are nicer than this handsome EF note.
