Lot 941

1847-C $2.50 Liberty. PCGS graded MS-63. Well struck and mostly untoned. A lovely example which may well be the next coin you buy if you're searching for a fresh appearing, unmarred quarter eagle from this mint; well struck and featuring grand eye-appeal. The surfaces are bright yellow gold and on obverse and reverse have many die finishing marks, indicating this is may be an early impression. In the general context of Charlotte quarter eagles the 1847-C ranks as a more plentiful issue. All the same, this is a lovely specimen that will occupy an honored place in the collection of its next owner. Only 23,226 minted. Pop 6; 6 in 64; none higher at PCGS. (PCGS # 7745) .
Estimated Value $12,000 - 14,000.

Realized $12,650
