Lot 1555

1919-D Liberty Walking Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-63. Quite choice with very few marks for this grade. A trigle soft in the centers. Satiny surfaces just starting to tone. The 1919-D, even in the top condition, is weakly struck and often shows indefinite centers. They are almost always weak in the hand and head area on the obverse, with similar softness in the detail on the eagle's leg and body. Even this example, which has substantial design showing, is not fully struck. Just the same, anyone who collects early Walking Liberty half dollars appreciates the date's rarity. Any collector who hopes to obtain some of the nicest Walkers will want to consider this specimen for his set. It has smooth-flowing satiny silver luster under the toning with only light marks for the Mint State 63 grade. Pop 39; 69 in 64; 10 in 65; 1 in 66. (PCGS # 6578) .
Estimated Value $14,000 - 16,000.
