Lot 1518

1901 Barber Half Dollar. NGC graded Proof 66. Blast white coin. Has a cameo effect. A first-rate gem with richly permeating "all brilliant" high points that flow across the mirror lakes on both sides with uncommonly fresh surfaces. Satisfactorily struck as well for the Proof quality, indeed, about as excellent as this date is ever found and sure to please even the most discriminating buyer. The coin's designer, Charles Barber, would have loved this one! (Come to think of it, he might have seen this one, since he was still living when it was made; Barber died in 1917.) Only 813 proofs issued. Pop 43; 20 finer.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 4,000.
