Lot 1383

1912 $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-64. Rich mint bloom color on very choice surfaces. In a reversal to what had become standard with Philadelphia Mint double eagles in the early days of the 20th century where this mint struck the majority of coins each year, by 1909-1915, production levels plummented, to be surpassed by either Denver or San Francisco, often by large amounts. For 1912, the figure is 149,824 pieces. And this year also has the distinction of no double eagles struck at the other two branch mints (PCGS # 9160) .
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,800.

Realized $3,910
