Lot 1171

1860-C $5 Liberty. NGC graded MS-61. Only 14,813 minted. Mostly untoned and a nice quality for this "C" mint. A dullish impression was left by the recoil of the dies that struck this on the topmost hair braid above Liberty's brow, but sharpness prevails elsewhere on this side, including full stars, clear hair bun, etc. The reverse is from the same die that struck the 1859-C, an explanation of it is given under that lot. One small nick on the bridge of the nose. Pop 8; 11 in 62; 1 in 63; 1 in 64. (PCGS # 8285) .
Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000.

Realized $10,350
