Lot 1022

1911-D $2.50 Indian. NGC graded MS-61. Lovely rich golden toning. As the key date in the series, the 1911-D Indian quarter eagle enjoys unflagging demand among date collectors and 20th century gold rarity specialists. Although this issue is the scarcest year in Mint condition, such coins are rare in an absolute sense above MS63 condition; at the Mint State 61 level they are expensive but won't break the bank, are are almost as infrequently offered in today's rising market as the higher-end pieces. Striking detail is pleasingly sharp for the issue with a clear mintmark. The color, seen in the accurate depictions, is warm golden orange. Pop 504. (PCGS # 7943) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 9,000.

Realized $8,338
