1878-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66. Nicely toned on both sides. Brilliant silvery luster forms the surface of this appealing coin. Clear-cut devices point to this San Francisco Mint 1878 having been giving a full strike by the dies. All S-mint dollars of the Morgan series were struck at the famous "Old Granite Lady" mint on Mission Street at the corner of 5th in downtown San Francisco. The mint still stands (how could it do otherwise, it is a hulking big edifice), but is sadly shuttered and awaits funding for restoration (PCGS # 7082) .
