Lot 909

1860-D $5 Liberty. ICG graded AU-58. Strong luster present on yellow golden surfaces. Well struck for the date, sharp in most places, and as such, a pleasing departure from what is usually seen for this date. The mintage of the 1860-D is 14,635, of which only a handful survive in high grade. The present piece has some milling marks in the left field next to the bust, still a very choice and memorable example of the 1860-D rarity. We fully agree with the assigned grade.
Estimated Value $6,000 - 6,500.
