1880 Morgan Dollar. NGC graded Proof 67 Cameo. This Superb Gem Proof is so beautiful. Its like looking at liquid silver velvet if such a thing existed. As expected, the strike is superb. We could not find a single design aspect that is not completely full. All of the devices are perfectly frosted and contrast nicely with the glittering mirror fields. The number of proofs struck for 1880 was 1,355 pieces, the largest Morgan Dollar proof mintage, if one call call that number large. Of those, only a very few have survived in this wondrous state. The population is 22 with only 12 finer. Of those 22 in similar grade, we would bet that this outstanding specimen is near the top.
