Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 31

Lot 409

1870-CC Liberty Seated Dollar. PCGS graded AU-55. A well struck example and white. The surfaces are semi-prooflike, particularly in the protected areas, with the normal allotment of small marks associated with this numerical grade and none worthy of note.

The year 1870-CC, the first year of issue for coins from this mint, is a magical date in U.S. numismatics, especially due to the heavy hitting gold rareties of the year. Only 12,462 silver dollars were minted and any example at the EF level or better is an important find. PCGS reports 30 at this level with 27 rated better (PCGS # 6964) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 7,500.

Realized $8,510
