Great Britain. Penny, 1868. S.3954; KM-749.2. Victoria. Kay date. One of the more difficult bronze pennies to find above EF, and here is a lovely coin indeed: incredibly free of all marks but a few scattered, tiny abrasions; die-rust pitting beneath the queen's chin; super-sharp strike down to the queen's locks and Britannia's toes; and lovely dark-brown golden color. A glossy coin, with almost no mint red, but one of the finest known "brown" examples. Cats £675 in "Unc" in the Spink guidebook, which should indicate brown coins because so few exist with much red, but we will be conservative in our estimate. Penny specialists know what to pay. NGC graded MS-64 Brown.
Estimated Value $800 - 900.
The Cheshire Collection.

Realized $719
