Lot 808

1940s World Series Ball. In the seventh game of the series, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1940, Hank Greenberg fouled off a pitch into the right field box. The ball presented here, according to our consignor, is this World Series foul ball. It has "World 1940 Series" boldly written in black across its sweet spot, with the date, pitching match up (Derringer versus Newsome), and final score (Cincinnati 2 - Detroit 1) recorded on another panel. Slightly shellacked and yellow due to aging. Good.
Estimated Value $50 - 100.
