Lot 2358

1889 $10 Gold Liberty. PCGS graded AU-55. The 1889 eagle is a total sleeper date and has the lowest mintage of any Liberty Head Philadelphia eagle from the 1880's until the end of production in the early 20th century. Only 4,400 coins were produced and this issue is scarce in all grades. The present example has light yellow gold surfaces that have mint state luster and a smooth, satiny appearance. Housed in an old PCGS green label, fat letter holder and graded long ago, this 1889 eagle looks very close to uncirculated to us. Do not miss out on bidding on a fresh and rare eagle that has the potential to slip through the cracks. PCGS has graded 18 in AU-55 with 47 finer. The finest known examples are several coins in the MS-62 grade (PCGS # 8715) .
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.

Realized $1,323
