1888 $1 Gold Indian. NGC graded Proof 66 Cameo. An original beauty! The fields are heavily mirrored and in stark contrast against the devices. When tilted, the fields also exhibit a pristine orange-peel effect. Liberty, the legends and the reverse wreath are coated with original thick mint frost. A technically pristine specimen with a few minor planchet imperfections. The first is a small depression on the cheek. Another tiny planchet flake is seen under the E of UNITED. Finally, a small circular depression is under the 1 on the reverse. Neither of these three is disturbing and they all blend in with the originality and surrounding eye appeal of the coin. The luster, coloration and overall eye appeal of this gem proof is of a grade higher than the current Proof 66 Cameo.
