Lot 2005

1893-S Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded EF-45 PQ. When one has to quickly think of two "key dates" in the Morgan Dollar series, the 1889-CC and 1893-S immediately come to mind. Like the 1889-CC, the 1893-S is always being sought after by a huge base of collectors and dealers and the supply/demand ratio is almost always in the favor of those possessing one. The surface quality and luster on this magnificent piece are more AU in appearance than EF and while there are some light areas of wear on the brow, above the ear and bottom of neck, this example certainly seems conservatively graded to us. The cheek of Liberty is free from any hits except two small ticks in the center. Luster is soft and satiny. On the reverse, the only mark that is out of place is a scuff mark right of arrow tips. A fantastic opportunity to acquire a fresh and original example of this rock-solid rarity (PCGS # 7226) .
Estimated Value $8,000 - 10,000.
The Michael M. Magdic Collection.
