1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar. Large stars. . Overton-112, Rarity-1. NGC graded AU-50. The year 1807 saw the production of two distinct types of silver half dollar coinage, the ending of the Draped Bust, Heraldic design and the beginning of the Capped Bust design. Mintage records indicate that 301,076 Draped Bust coins and 750,500 Capped Bust issues were struck. The 1807 Capped Bust issue is not represented by a multitude of die marriages and the present variety is the most common of only 5 major varieties for this issue (the 111a and 113a not included) Large obverse stars with a broad 0 in the date. On the reverse, the 50 was repunched over 20 and the top remnants of the 2 show left of the upright of 5. NGC population of 21 .
