Lot 950

Liberty Seated Dollar. 1872-CC. PCGS graded AU-53. All With Motto Carson City Seated dollars are scarce and significant in any grade. In 1872, Carson City struck 3,150 dollars and of course all were used in commerce. This issue has a pretty even breakdown among survivors from XF to AU, a few here and there, and only a few mint state examples extant. The fields on this piece have medium hairlines. Liberty's device still retains original mint frost and was spared any huge hits, except for a small diagonal tick at the corner of the shield on her thigh. Slightly reflective fields on both obverse and reverse. This example is impressive and important, as only a handful of 1872-CC dollars exist this fine. PCGS population of 6 with 31 finer. (PCGS # 6969) .
Estimated Value $7,000 - 8,000.

Realized $10,350
