$20 Gold Liberty. 1857-S. NGC graded AU-53. A common date from the Type I Double Eagle series made infamous by the discovery of the S.S. Central America treasure. The present coin is not from that shipwreck discovery, as almost all recovered graded in the MS62-MS66 range. Pleasant rose gold color with soft satiny luster. Slightly abraded in the fields and a small lamination at the tip of the eagle's left wing.
