Lot 1441

1865 Pattern Three Cents. Nickel, plain edge. Judd-410. Pollock-481. PCGS graded Proof 65. A pleasing gem coin with flawless surfaces and a light layer of original film. One can see that the fields are brilliant and reflective and free from hairlines and marks. Frosty luster on Liberty. Identified by a small lint mark just to the right of the lower third of the second Roman Numeral. Dies are very similar to those used to strike the first federal issue three cent nickels of 1865, the main differences being the position of the date and the fact that the ribbons touch the dentils. PCGS pop of 4 in PR65, 1 in PR66 and 2 PR67's as finest (PCGS # 60591) .
Estimated Value $6,000 - 7,000.
