Lot 1246

1935 Connecticut Half Dollar. PCGS graded MS-66 PQ. Breathtakingly beautiful and fresh! The most delicate balance of champagne and steel-blue toning over subtle gray surfaces. The strike on the Charter Oak is one of the sharpest we have seen with concentric circles of metal flow seen evenly through the leaves. Totally pristine and never before presented to the public. A beautiful ring of iridescent toning hugs the reverse periphery at 6:00. Housed in an old NGC holder, serial # 254386-049.

Accompanied by the original packing from the Hartford National Bank & Trust C., dated May 21, 1935. The front of this mailer has the recipients name, Edward C. Denny, typed boldy. The affixed stamps have retained their red coloration. The back of this mailer has registered mail stamps similar to those still used today and a large red sticker pointing out the 1792 establishment of the Hartford National Bank & Trust Co. Inside the mailer is a fitted cardboard certificate from the Conneticut Tercentenary Commission, lightly stained from the outer mailer. Also included is the small box with purple velvet lining that actually contained the commemorative half dollar. Very cool memorabilia and all in excellent "Uncirculated" condition, the coin box being "superb gem" and rare.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000.

Realized $4,830
