1835 $2.50 Classic Head. NGC graded MS-63. Lovely, greenish gold with considerable reflective, prooflike tendencies. The devices are lightly frosted, creating an attractive cameo contrast. Somewhat weak at the centers on both sides. A very scarce die variety that uses the same reverse used to strike Proof Quarter Eagles of this year (close AM and broken M in AMERICA)! This may, in fact, be a poorly produced Proof. In circulation strike format, NGC has graded only 11 at this level, with 4 higher (all MS-64).
