1854 Liberty Seated Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 65. An impressive example of this scarce date Dollar, one of an estimated 50 Proofs struck for the year. At the Proof-65 level, this piece stands alone as the single finest example graded by PCGS, making it one of the top three examples known of the date (this coin, an NGC Proof-65, and Phil Kaufman's NGC Proof-66). This one has been atop the PCGS chart for several years, as evidenced by the older style, green label. This makes it a good candidate for a Cameo designation, as both sides appear to have enough frosting to "make the grade." Toned in golden-brown iridescence on the obverse. The reverse is pure white and dazzling. A great coin for advanced collector of this challenging series (PCGS # 6997) .
