Meir, Golda. Important Historical Document. (1898-1978) Israeli stateswoman and prime minister. Brought up in Milwaukee, WI, she emigrated to a kibbutz in Palestine in 1921 and became a leading figure in the Labour movement. She went to become the Israeli ambassador to the Soviet Union (1948-9), the minister of labour and foreigin minister. As prime minister she worked for peace in the Middle East but was stymied by the Arab-Israeli War (1973).

Typed Letter Signed One Page, Quarto, On Official Stationery. January 1, 1955. To David Ben-Gurion (Prime Minister), at his Kibbutz. In Hebrew. Additionally, contains a handwritten note on bottom by Moshe Sharit (Foreign Minister). Translated as follows:

"Good Health and hope you are keeping busy. You went to the Kibbutz as an example to our youth- that they should settle the Negev. Our wonderful Israel youth, for them these things are pure and simple- to them, like our Israeli sun, these things are clear and without any blocks. I believe your campaign of settling the Negev will succeed, since we are blessed with a youth that are ready to sacrifice their lives for the country of their heritage."
Note by Sharit in his hand at the bottom, "she writes exactly the same style as Ben Gurion".

Fine.
Estimated Value $250 - 350.
