Isabella I (1451- 1504) Called la Católica ("the Catholic"). Queen of Castile and of Aragón, ruling the two kingdoms jointly with her husband Fredinand of Aragón from 1479. During her reign, the Inquisition was introduced (1478), the reconquest of Granada completed (1482-92), and the Jews expelled (1492) She sponsored the voyage of Christopher Columbus to the New World.

Document Signed "Yo la Reyna" in Spanish, One page, large 4to, Granada, August 3, 1498. The Queen commands her chamberlin, Sancho de Peredes, to give 2,000 maravedis from the 30,000 recieved from the treasurer Gonzalo de Baeza, to Francisco de Herosilla, and to secure a reciept. Below her signature is penned "by command of the Queen" and signed by her secretary Gaspar de Trizio. Hermosilla has receipted at the bottom of the document.
Boldy penned and docketed on verso. Slit bisects signature as usual with no paper loss, and has been strengthened with clear tape on verso; tear at bottom edge extending vertically through portion of receipt, insignificant nicks at right edge.
