Kennedy, John F. The note is written in heavy black ink, both text and signature are bold. Along with the note, Kennedy also sent Ralph the Preflight Report for the trip, which provided flight data such as flying time, weather in flight and at destination, cruising altitude, etc., for passengers on Air Force One. The report is included in this lot and is in fine condition. Also included is a black and white 8 x 10" head and shoulders photo of Kennedy in a praying position. Final element is an official JFK silver inaugural medal. Each is matted within marbled borders along with an engraved identification plaque and framed to an overall size of 30 x 23½". 35th President of the United States, 1961-1963.
Autograph Noted Signed as President. One page, octavo, on White House letterhead, Washington DC, n.d. (c. 1962). John Kennedy did not pen many handwritten notes or letters while President. Those he did were usually addressed to dignitaries and politicans of high stature, and are seldom available on the open market. The rare ANS offered here was written to Ralph Lewis, the son of one of Kennedy's staff members. On occasion, special events were held or invitations extended to White House staff members and their families. In 1962, young Ralph was invited to join the President on Air Force One for a short flight from Wheeling, West Virginia, to Washington DC. Because Ralph was unable to get out of school, Kennedy penned this brief note:
"Dear Ralph: I am sorry you did not come with us - John Kennedy."
