The Finest Known 1857-C Gold Dollar in Mint State 62. NGC graded MS-62. This is quite likely the Finest Known of the date, as neither grading service has seen a better one. The surfaces show only faint handling marks and radiate the glowing luster familiar to numismatists. Fully struck with worn and lapped dies that still show evidence of clash marks. On the reverse, the die was rotated about 15 degrees counterclockwise. With a low mintage of 13,280 struck, few remain for collectors in any grade, let alone in Mint State. A foremost rarity and worthy of the Finest collection.
