Taft, William Howard. William Jennings Bryan had been nominated by the Democrats in Denver and ran unsuccessfully against Taft in November. Walker was a noted trial lawyer, and in 1912 wrote a book about the Taft Administration. 27th President of the United States, 1909-1913.

Typed Letter Signed. One page, octavo, Cincinnati, Oct. 9, 1908, to Albert H. Walker; referring to an item in the Democratic platform, Taft, as the 1908 Republican presidential candiate criticizes the Democratic platform. Taft writes:

"I have your letter of Oct. 6 with reference to the operation of such a provision as that in the Denver platform requiring a jury trial in contempt cases. It illustrates the absurdity of the matter as well as any instance I know… ".
